Thank you Mr. John White for your fast and quality service. I got my new Aviator sunglasses today, only a few days after I ordered. With the tracking number it was easy to follow my order from US to Denmark. I highly recommend this company.

My new Concord Sunglasses just arrived - within 2 days of shipping. I had almost given up any possibility of finding a reasonable, not cheap, pair of sunglasses that did not wreck my naturally excellent vision. Fortunately, today happens to be very sunny today, so I just tried these out by going for a drive in the country. Wow! The search is over! Thanks for a great product. Jimmy Quast

I ordered the 55mm, gray glass, matte chrome with skull temples. They arrived in 3 days and were exactly as advertised.

I no longer fly as a Commercial Pilot, so I went to polarized glasses for driving but couldn't see the Head Up Display or GPS on my Corvette very well so I ordered the Randolph Aviator Sunglasses from John.

What a difference!!! I can see everything again.

Thanks, John, for the quick service!

This is my first pair of Randolph Aviators. Someone had the misfortune to lose them in the middle of nowhere at Grand Canyon. They were half buried in dirt and leaves when I found them. I could tell they were there for some time. At home, I gave them a gentle cleaning. Other then
the cracked plastic on the temples, the glasses were as good as new. With the help of John at Aviation Sunglasses, I was able to replace the cracked temples. These are the best sunglasses I have ever had and I look forward to years of wearing enjoyment. I was also quite happy to see these quality glasses are made in America.

Got the 52mm Aviators with gunmetal frame, AGX lenses, and bayonet temple. Ordering on the website was a pleasure. Shipment was sent next day and arrived a day later. The glasses are great, awesome quality, very substantial, much more so than other brands, including Ray-Bans. Could not be more pleased.

UV Protection

Serious Ultraviolet Protection

There are 3 categories of invisible high energy UV rays: UVC rays, the highest-energy rays and potentially the most harmful, UVB rays with slightly longer wavelengths and lower energy than UVC rays and UVA rays which are closer to visible light rays but which can pass through the cornea and reach the lens and retina inside the eye. Gary Heiting, O.D. has researched the effects of UV (ultra-violet) rays noting that extended exposure to the sun’s UV rays has been linked to eye damage, including cataracts, macular degeneration, pingueculae and pterygia and photokeratitis that can cause temporary vision loss.

In the second image note how the Randolph Aviators lens blocks the harmful UV rays and the Infrared rays, but allows all of the visible light to pass through. When considering the purchase of a pair of aviator sunglasses it is important to make sure they block between 98-100% of these harmful UV rays, as well as the infrared rays. Infrared radiation is transformed into heat which can heat up and burn the surface of your eyes. This is why your eyes may feel warm, become red and tired with long exposure to bright sunlight.Blocking the Infrared radiation results in your eyes feeling cooler, preventing surface burn damage to your retina.

The very best aviator sunglasses must block 98 to 100% of UV rays along with the infrared rays and “blue light” rays. Recent studies suggest that the blue end of the light spectrum may also contribute to retinal damage and possibly lead to macular degeneration. The retina can be harmed by high-energy visible radiation of blue/violet light that penetrates the macular pigment found in the eye. Notice how the Randolph Aviators lenses with premium mineral glass are ground to block uv, infrared and visible “blue light” rays. Randolph aviators

Determine Your Size

There are several methods for determining the proper Frame Width for your face.

  1. If you already own a pair of glasses and/or sunglasses that fit you well simply use a ruler and measure the inside dimensions of the frame;
  2. You can look at the arms (temples) and/or under the nose bridge and see if the Frame Width is stamped there;
  3. You can use a ruler and looking into a mirror measure the width of your head from temple to temple.

Any one of these methods will give you the information you need to choose the correct frame width. For more information go to our How To Choose Sunglasses Size page.

Randolph Engineering, Inc. is an American story built by two Polish immigrants who settled in the Boston area after the Second World War.

Founded in 1972 by two engineers, Jan Waszkiewicz and Stanley Zaleski, both men worked hard to transform their dream into reality. At first the company focused on designing machinery for the optical trade, but quickly built the cornerstone of the business on advanced engineering principles eventually manufacturing premium performance eyewear.

By 1982 Randolph Engineering had become the prime contractor for military aviator sunglasses for the U.S. Department of Defense. In the early 1990′s sales were expanded to offer commercial lines of premium sunglasses, shooting glasses and prescription frames.

Randolph Engineering eyewear not only appeals to military pilots and active outdoor enthusiasts, but also to those who appreciate the distinctive quality and classic look of their products.
