I really like Serengeti sunglasses and have to admit that they are very cool and have great drivers lens technology. ULTRA-LIGHT GLASS LENS

The lenses then undergo Serengeti’s ® Hydrogen Firing Process, which activates the photochromic and Spectral Control® technologies. Hydrogen-fueled lehr furnaces activate each lens with our photochromic and spectral control technologies. A full 20% thinner and lighter, Serengeti's ultra-light glass lenses are the most optically superior lenses on the market today. When the lenses cool they are treated with a unique coating that protects their edges. Each stage of production is monitored by a technician who examines every lens by hand to ensure the highest quality. Staying true to Serengeti’s commitment to craftsmanship, they give unparalleled attention to detail throughout every phase of the lens-making process.

Drivers Lens Technology

Drivers lens technology comes in three different versions:
    Each version serves a different market segment.

    Drivers®:

    The amber colored Drivers lens enhances colors and contrast, lightening and darkening for optimal light transmission under any driving condition. Their ability to relax your eye muscles reduces stress and fatigue making them ideal for anyone who spends a lot of time driving. Drivers® lenses are engineered to transmit more red, yellow and green colors which makes them ideal for identifying traffic lights quickly. And thanks to the lenses ability to relax your eye muscles, the Drivers lens helps reduce stress and fatigue while driving. Because they enhance red, yellow and green colors they help drivers obey traffic lights and avoid tickets. In addition the photochromic function of the lenses allows the driver's eyes quickly adapt to changing lighting conditions.

    Drivers Gold

    The Drivers Gold lens has all of the benefits of the Drivers® lens combined with a nice gold flash mirror finish that reflects visible and infrared light waves which can harm your eyes. They block 90% of Blue Light when the lens is lightened and 96% of Blue Light when darkened. These lenses are polarized and come either in ultra-light glass or Trivex material. Trivex is 75% lighter than glass and is 10% lighter than polycarbonate lenses. As a result the Drivers Gold lenses have less transmittance of light through the lens providing excellent eye protection.

    Drivers Gradient

The darker upper part of the lens blocks out glare while the lighter, lower part of the lens makes it easy to see the dashboard clearly. This is important for your safety while driving or flying your airplane.

    Technology For Pilots

    The Drivers Gradient lens is darker at the top and lighter at the bottom which provides a clear view of the instrument panel below. Pilots choose drivers gradient lenses because they can see detail at great distance while easily scanning the instrument panel in front of them. The models we feature and offer primarily have Drivers Gradient lenses which work well in the cockpit. The gradient lenses provide maximum protection for the pilot' eyes looking out the windscreen combined with good visibility to see the flight instruments. Aircraft windscreens absorb the uv light that activates the photochromic function of the lenses. But they are still very effective in protecting the pilots most important sensory asset - their eyes.
