Article: The New American Optical AO Eyewear Company for November 2019

The New American Optical AO Eyewear Company for November 2019

Sometime back the original American Optical Company was broken up and sold in pieces. One of those pieces was purchased by Alan McKinley and renamed AO Eyewear, Inc. This is the part of AO that manufactures and sells AO sunglasses.

Originally the sunglasses were manufactured in China; however, a couple of years ago the company decided to bring manufacturing back to the United States and since that time has enjoyed considerable growth.

With improved quality control, Made in the USA manufacturing and advertising AO has steadily increased it's market share for aviator sunglasses.

Recently the company was sold to another eyeglass manufacturer in Chicago, and has moved to Vernon Hills, IL.

As a result of this move there have been unfortunate delays in both manufacturing and shipment of product to Customers. Much of the backlog has now been taken care of; however, as production gets underway some lines still have delays in shipment to Customers. It is hoped that everything should return to normal within the next 30-45 days.

I will be visiting the new facilities this coming week, and I will let you know how it goes once I return to our offices in DeWitt, Michigan.

In the meantime it is important for everyone to know that starting November 1, 2019 there will be a $ 20.00 per item price increase on all AO Eyewear products.

If you are contemplating the purchase of some AO sunglasses you will need to place your orders prior to November 1st, 2019.

For  questions and more information be sure and give us a call at (866) 440-2461 and we will be happy to talk with you.

In the meantime keep your eyes safe!
