Prescription Aviator Sunglasses

Eyes

Eyes are one of our most important assets.

Can you even image how you would function without eyes?

Many of us, including myself, suffer from vision loss where we lose our ability to see things clearly.

Fortunately through the miracle of prescription lenses it is possible to improve our eyesight, in many cases back to 20/20!

What a wonderful gift, eh?

As a pilot my eyes are extremely important to me.

As I have aged my eyes have begun to weaken and I now need prescription lenses to correct my vision back to where it should be.

Over the years I tried different solutions ranging from contact lenses to transition lenses to prescription lenses.

In the end prescription lenses work the best for me.

Over the years I have purchased prescritpion sunglasses through Hidalgos, but they are no longer in business.

So we have decided to offer prescription sunglasses ourselves through this website.

Prescription Sunglasses

You would probably be amazed how much time we spend outdoors.

Even working in an office you are in and out all day long, driving or commuting to and fro, and enjoying outdoor activities all weekend long.

And ol' Sol is there, sending visible light and UV rays earthward.

Too long outside without sunglasses and our eyes get red and sore. They can even get sunburned.

Imagine that! Our eyes getting sunburned.

But it's true.

Sunglasses are not only necessary for protecting our eyes from harmful UV radiation, but to help prevent diseases that can find their way into our eyes.

But my eyes are not 20/20 without prescription lenses.

So began my search for prescription sunglass lenses.

Prescription Sunglass Lenses

If you wear prescription glass lenses then you know they can be heavy and/or cumbersome.

I talk to a lot of pilots and other folks who want and need prescription sunglasses. But there always seems to be a problem.

One of the most common complaints I get from Customers is that their glass prescription lenses are heavier than those found in non-prescirption sunglasses.

This is because non-prescription lenses can be ground very thin and this saves money for the manufacturer.

The solution to heavy glass sunglass lenses is CR-39 plastic lenses.

But don't they scratch easily?

Today's CR-39 lenses are made of organic material with high optical quality and material pureness. They work well with metal, acetate or injected frames.

And they can be tinted to almost any way you want.

Here on our website we offer SRC CR-39 plastic lenses

These are scratch resistant, and as long as you don't abuse them too much they don't scratch easily.

They can be ground so that they are distortion free all the way to the edge of the lens.

Most of us have a pair of either those rectangular shaped aviator sunglasses or those tear drop shaped ones.

I have always liked the American Optical Original Pilot sunglass frames, American Optical General frames and Randolph Aviator sunglasses frames.

Now that production of AO American Optical sunglasses has been moved to the US their quality has really improved.

And Randolph Aviators have always been a great choice.

How To Order Our Prescription Lenses

The first thing you need is your most recent eyeglass prescription (less than a year old).

When you get it check and see that it includes the PD (pupillary distance) numbers.

If it doesn't you can measure it for yourself. Here is how you do it: PD

With that information in hand go to Prescription Sunglasses and place your order.

That's all there is to it!

In the meantime keep your wings straight and level Hersch!
