Flying Eyes has an interesting product line which is directed towards to main classes of individuals: pilots, and motorcyclists. The reason for this is the incredible, ultra-thin, Resilamide™ temples. This material is extremely difficult to break, and will bend almost into a circle without breaking.

Another great thing about these temples it solves a number of problems that pilots encounter. A lot of pilots wear headsets while flying, and modern headsets have cups that fit tightly over your ears to eliminate outside noise, and to make communications possible with no distractions from extraneous noises. Other sunglasses have metal temples that are large enough to introduce a gap between the ear cup and the side of your head.

Static and wind noises are rampent with pilots in the cockpit. While the engines make a lot of noise, so does the wind as it comes across the windscreen pilots look out through to see the outside. It is even more pronounced in smaller airplanes where noise can come through the seals around doors and windows, or from passengers who insist on interupting everything a pilot has to do. 

When you get your first pair you will be surprised at how light they are. In fact, the Flying Eyes Cooper sunglasses weigh less than an ounce! You will want to bend the temples to see just how pliable they really are. The lenses have a VLT (Visible Light Transmittance) value of approximately 15, which means the lenses will block 85% of the light from reaching your eyes. 

The Solid tint lenses are the same amount of tint color and density throughout the entire lens, while the Gradient tint lenses are darker than standard at the top and lighter than standard at the bottom. The gradient is subtle, so outwardly people won’t really notice, but the gradient is very useful for viewing an instrument panel, kneeboard, iPad, etc. while at the same time blocking harsh sunlight through the windshield.

Because all of Flying Eyes sunglasses are designed specifically for use with a headset or helmet, they are very comfortable to wear, so it just comes down to personal preference when choosing colors or lenses. While we can provide prescription lenses, the best choice is to see your own optomitrist to help you.But, if you prefer, we can do the prescriptions for you ourselves with a charge for the prescription lenses.
