Article: Introducing Brand New Prescription Trivex Sunglass Lenses

Introducing Brand New Prescription Trivex Sunglass Lenses

We are pleased to announce that we can now provide prescription Trivex lenses in any of our frames or a frame you may already have.

One of the many benefits of Trivex eyeglass lenses is that they are lightweight and rugged. This means that your eyes are protected from the lens breaking or shattering and damaging your precious eyes and eyesight.

You no longer have to compromise when it comes to prescription sunglass lenses.

Trivex lenses, which rival polycarbonate lenses as the safest on the market, are made of exceptionally clear, lightweight materials.

This means that these lenses have excellent all-day wearing comfort combined with superior eye protection, sharp vision, and lightweight comfort, all in the same lenses.

To make sure that you have the very best comfort, vision, and appearance, all of our Trivex lenses come with an anti-reflective coating applied to the lenses.

This microscopic coating eliminates light reflecting from the front and back surfaces of the lenses, giving the lenses a crystal-clear appearance.

The Difference Between Trivex Lenses And Polycarbonate Lenses

For years polycarbonate lenses have been the industry standard for safety glasses.

Both are exceptionally lightweight and impact-resistant, making both lenses well-suited for aviator sunglasses, sports sunglasses, and other protective eyewear.

But, they differ in how they are manufactured and other characteristics.

For example, Trivex lenses are cast molded, while polycarbonate lenses are injection molded. The cast molding process is similar to how most other plastic and high-index plastic lenses are made.

The cast molding process used to manufacture Trivex lenses results in sharper optics than other lenses.

As a result, Trivex lenses have a high Abbe value of 45 which is better than average among other sunglass lenses.

What this means to you is that lenses with a higher Abbe value tend to cause less chromatic aberration than those with low Abbe values.

Abbe Value Chart

Lenses with a low Abbe value tend to have a colored halo, or fringe,  which slightly blurs or distorts peripheral vision. This is extremely important for sunglass lenses worn by pilots, as peripheral vision is very important for pilots.

Trivex lenses also have a higher tensile strength than other plastic or polycarbonate lenses. This makes the lenses much less likely to crack in the sunglass frame.

Sunglass Frames

We have a great selection of Randolph prescription sunglass frames for many Randolph styles, or we could put these lenses in a frame you already own.

Our turnaround process on these lenses and/or frames is very quick, usually taking less than ten days from order to delivery.

Ordering Process

Our process is very simple:

  1. Send us a copy of your most current prescription, including your PD measurements;
  2. Choose the lens tint and prescription choice (Single Vision, Progressive, or Transition).
  3. Send us your frame, or choose one of our frames and add it to your order.

That's it!

If, during the ordering process, you have any questions simply send us a message or give us a call. We will be happy to help.

Always purchase from an Authorized Randolph Engineering Dealer to make sure your Randolph warranty is valid.

Until next time, keep your eyes safe and focused on what's ahead of you, Hersch!
