Genuine Randolph Engineering Replacement Sunglass Lenses

Randolph Sunglass Lenses

Why would anyone care about replacing lenses in their Randolph sunglasses?

Randolph Engineering, Inc.has been around for quite a long time now, and is known for it's Aviator Style sunglasses which provide outstanding visual acuity with their crown mineral glass lenses.

Many people look for quality sunglasses when they discover the damage that can be caused to their eyes by harmful Ultra Violet radiation.

Randolph Made in the USA sunglasses feature both nylon and crown mineral glass lenses which make their sunglasses, including frames, very popular with those individuals who appreciate value.

One of the hallmarks of Randolph Engineering is the level of support they provide for their sunglasses. Many groups of people seek Randolph Aviator sunglasses to protect their eyes, and many become acquainted with Randolph through sunglasses issued to them while in the U.S. Military.

Take Aviation For Example

For example, I am a pilot and I know a lot of pilots who are friends of mine who are very aware of the dangers of Ultraviolet Radiation(UV Rays). Most commercial airliners fly very close to the top of the troposphere where the engines are more efficient, and most of the weather never reaches that high.

Because pilots today fly at very high altitudes the are exposed to extremely strong UV rays which can not only damage their eyes, but many times pilots will get skin cancer on their heads and faces.

First, the farther you ascend into the earth’s atmosphere, the more you are exposed to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays.

One study measuring UV radiation in the pilot seat of an turbojet airplane found that flying for under an hour at 30,000 feet had the same UVA carcinogenic radiation exposure as a 20-minute tanning bed session.

In otherwords, airline pilots typically spend 4 to 16 hours at high altitudes, which would be the equivalent of 1 hour 20 minutes under a tanning light up to 5 hours and 30 minutes for a 16 hour flight!

Higher altitudes also mean increased exposure to cosmic radiation, which is a high-energy radiation normally filtered by the time it reaches earth, but not as much when you’re in the sky.

While pilots and flight attendants are exposed to less than the maximum recommended levels of cosmic radiation, it’s nevertheless one risk factor that has has to be considered.

Other Less Obvious Groups That Are At Risk

Some of these groups inlude:

  • Military personnel. Interestingly, members of the US Air Force have an increased risk of skin cancer, similar to airline pilots;
  • Truck drivers. Typically skin cancer is seen on truck drivers, particularly on the left side of their faces and arms, which are by the driver's side.;
  • Welders. Welding tools emit the full spectrum of UV radiation, and frequent exposure increases their risk of skin cancer on the head and neck.;
  • Office workers near windows.  Most windows filter out UVB wavelengths which lead to suntanning and the majority of skin cancers. However, most windows do not completely block UVA rays, which are associated with premature aging of the skin as well as skin cancers.;
  • Golfers. Golfers spend hours at a time outdoors, but try to limit sun exposure with hats, golfing sunglasses, and sunscreen. However, many golfers forget to reapply sunscreen on a regular basis.;
  • Boaters and fishermen. While on the water the uv rays are reflected back up from the surface of the water and right into their faces. Sunglasses, particularly polarized sunglasses, help, but again sunscreen needs to be applied regularly while on the water.

Randolph Engineering Sunglasses

Many sunglasses today manufactured in the USA are designed to last.

For example, Randolph sunglasses have been around since 1973 and many military personnel still have them - and, they are in great shape!

Not only are Randolph Sunglasses popular, but they come with a lifetime warranty on their frame joints. If the frame ever separates at any of the solder joints, Randolph will replace them with brand new frames.

More than that, if your Randolph Sunglasses need a tune up, Randolph will provide that service as well.

But, when you own a great pair of Randolph sunglasses for a long time you may experience damage to them, including cracking or breaking the sunglass lenses.

The only thing they need are replacement parts to return them to "like new" condition.

One of the most popular replacement items we offer are Genuine OEM Randolph Engineering SkyTec™ and  SkyForce™ lenses.

They will always fit your frames without any problems, and they are easy to change.
