Eagle Eyes Pilot Sunglasses

Eagle Eyes Advanced Optic Technology came as the result of
research that began at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in the late 1960s.
Early near space flights with astronauts revealed that the astronaut’s eyes
were being damaged by the harmful properties of bright sunlight in space. The light
from the sun and other interstellar environments are now known to contribute to
cataract and age-related macular degeneration.

The Eyes of Eagles

A group of NASA scientists searched for a solution to this
problem, which then led them to explore birds as it was well known that birds
needed exceptional vision in order to survive. By the 1970’s these scientists
discovered the exceptional visual acuity of the American Eagle, and found that
the eagle’s eyes contained unique oil droplets which allowed them to not only
see at a great distance, but to also see down into the water for fish, a
mainstay of their diet.

The NASA researchers then adapted this natural process into
lens technology that, in turn, led to the development of high performance
eyewear lenses that protect and enhance vision under any light conditions.

Eagle Eyes Lens Technologies

By the 1980’s Avian®
and TriLenium® space transfer technology was introduced to the general public
and adopted for everyday use in eyeglass technology here on earth. In the 1990’s
a company called SunTiger® (now known as Eagle Eyes®) conducted further development
of this technology and used it in the manufacture of their line of Eagle Eye
sunglasses.

Initially Eagle Eye
Optics manufactured men’s pilot sunglasses as classic aviator style sunglasses
similar to the earlier original American Optical Company original pilot
sunglasses, but using the new eyeglass technology developed by NASA.

Eagle Eyes Eyewear

Today Eagle Eyes Optics offers outstanding military style
sunglasses like their Eagle Eye Freedom Non-Polarized sunglasses, Freedom
Apollo 22K Aviator sunglasses, Memory Flex Aviator sunglasses, Hero Aviator
sunglasses and their Classis Teardrop Aviator Sunglasses.

On March 21, 1983, the Space Foundation non-profit
organization was formed to support space activities, education, and
professional development for a greater understanding of space utilization for
the benefit of our civilization.

As a result, The Space Foundation granted Eagle Eyes Eyewear
a lifetime certification for their groundbreaking sunglass lens technology.
