Waylite Sunglasses by Scheyden
The Waylite frame is engineered with design principles derived from aviation, where extended headset and helmet use places strict demands on eyewear ergonomics. Traditional frame geometries create localized pressure at the mastoid region (behind and below the ear) due to temple thickness and clamping force. . Enhance Your Cockpit Experience! Classic Style. Aerobatic Performance.
The Waylite addresses this by incorporating ultra-low-profile temples with reduced cross-sectional thickness, minimizing interference at the headset interface. This design distributes load more evenly while significantly decreasing contact pressure behind the ear. The result is a high-performance lifestyle frame optimized for comfort with over-ear equipment.
The Waylite redefines the timeless Wayfarer silhouette for the cockpit. We originally engineered this frame for aerobatic pilots who demanded that classic look but needed a frame that could withstand high-G maneuvers without digging into their temples under a tight headset or helmet.
As the lightest compostie frame in our fleet, the Waylite features ultra-thin temples and anti-slip silicone nose pads - a rarity in this style - ensuring a secure, pressure-free fit on nearly any face shape. It is the first of its kind: a vintage aesthetic built with modern durability to perform where standard acetate frames fail.

Frequently asked questions
Which are better - Polarized or Non-Polarized lenses?
For pilots, polarized lenses can cause serious instrument visibility problems in the cockpit. In addition, polarized lenses reduce glare and therefore inhibit pilots from seeing other aircraft. Therefore, for pilots non-polarized lenses are better.
Do darker lenses provide more UV protectiion?
False. UV protection is a coating or material property, not related to lens darkness. A clear lens with the UV400 coating protects better than a very dark lens without UV protection. All of our lenses come with UVA/UVB 400nm UV protection.
Are you just paying for a brand name?
Premium materials like mineral glass lenses and titanium frames have real, measureable performance differences that budget materials cannot replicate. The Scheyden price point reflects material costs and performance.
How should you clean your sunglasses?
Use a clean microfiber cloth and lens cleaning spray. Avoid wiping dry lenses with clothing or paper products which can introduce fine scratches. Rinse with water before wiping if there is dust or grit on the lenses.
