Prescription Randolph Aviator Sunglasses

Randolph Engineering Prescription Lenses

In 2019 Randolph Engineering introduced prescription lenses for their sunglasses.

They offered Single Vision and Progressive variations of the lenses in the following lens tints:

  • AGX (Slight Green Tint)
  • American Grey
  • American Tan
  • Northern Lights (gradient w/mirror)
  • Atlantic Blue (w/mirror)
  • Cape Sand (gradient)
  • Rose Gold (w/mirror)

As I examined these offerings I noticed that the lenses came in only two lens materials:

  • Polycarbonate
  • Trivex

Further, the lenses came in only two prescription styles:

  • Single Vision
  • Progressives

Upon further examination, I learned that the actual orders were placed through another online wholesaler who had relationships with over 450 optical labs around the country.

The optical frames must be Randolph optical frames and fitted with lenses made by one of 450+ optical labs accross the country.

What Does All This Mean?

As a pilot who needs prescription lenses I have a serious interest in prescription Randolph Aviator sunglasses.

I have worn Randolph Aviator's for many years now, and as any of you who folllow me know, I always carry two pair with me when I fly.

But, like so many of us these days I need prescription lenses for my Aviators.

At first I purchased my own prescription sunglasses through Hidalgos. They provided excellent service and were very knowledgeable about prescription lenses.

When Hidalgos retired from the busines I tried to work out an arrangement to continue that business; however, I was unable to make that work.

Now I have partnered with the same optical lab which makes lenses to sell to you at a fair price.

We are able to make Glass, CR-39 Plastic, Polycarbonate and Trivex lenses to fit into a frame you already have, or in a Randolph Aviator prescription frame which we sell.

How Does It Work?

The first order of business is to decide whether you want to use a frame you already have, or to get one of Randolph's Aviator prescription frames.

The next thing is to provide us with a copy of your most recent prescription along with these additional items:

If you don't have the segment height and PD measurements not to worry. We can work with you to come up with the correct answer.

Once we have all of this information we can provide you with a detailed quotation based upon your lens choices, including the time required.

CR-39 Prescription Lenses

Our most popular prescription lenses are CR-39 Plastic Lenses which have an anti-scratch coating.

You can see our pricing for the lenses only by following the link above.

We will be adding more information and product links to Glass, Polycarbonate and Trivex lenses in the future.

In the meantime keep your wings straight and level Hersch!
